Business Management Helps

The Business Management students took time out of their program schedule to enjoy some sunshine while making a difference in their community. The sidewalks and grass areas on Forest Street received a “greening and cleaning” as students collected several bags of trash.

Button Up Day

On October 25, 2011 Randolph Technical Career Center students left school for the day and went to the White River in South Royalton to help clean up the trash left behind from hurricane Irene. Nearly 100 students showed up and all worked diligently for four hours of work. That’s 400 total hours of work!

Our collective trash pick up has added up to 3,400 lbs in trash, a record of trash pick up since the hurricane hit. All trash collected helps prevent future problems in the White River such as clogging.

All students put in a great deal of effort on such a rainy day to accomplish such a goal.

We give thanks to Mary Russ, Executive Director of the White River Partnership for letting us come and help out.

Student Forum Meeting #3

Student Forum is now selling entertainment cards. Pre-order forms have been sent out and each classroom will be having a competition to raise the most money. The classroom that raises the most money has the opportunity to collect $75.00 for a lunch.

Student Forum will be collecting donations from local businesses until December 1st for the silent auction/dinner being hosted December 14th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. VIP has offered to make all desserts for the dinner. The dinner is considered free for those who are flood victims and can not afford food however there will be a donation jar set out by the door.

All those involved in Student Forum are required to be in good academic standing, because Student Forum is an OPTION. If a student in Student Forum has disciplinary issues or requires assistance with grades they will be expected take personal responsibility and to step down from their position in Student Forum.

Student Forum will be splitting up into committees next meeting.

Student Forum Meetings 1-2

Student Forum has met twice in the past few weeks, and in that time frame we have raised nearly $580.00 towards yearbooks and committee projects through Yankee Candle. For the money we have raised Yankee Candle has awarded student forum with children’s toys that will be donated to Adopt-A-Family.

The Student Committees have been established, and the chair people for each committee will be elected next meeting. Colleen Corologos has been elected as President, Keith Williams is Vice President, and Coral Safford is now Secretary. Future fundraisers are in the planning process still, such as a Silent Auction/Dinner. By the next meeting all student forum members will bring a list containing ten possible businesses to donate to the Silent Auction. All tech programs will participate in raising money and providing food for the dinner. Nearly all money made is going towards cheapening yearbooks and making them more affordable to Randolph Tech students. Free dinners will be offered to those in need however there will be a donation bucket for those willing to help.
